The responsibility of providing service work in the three states of Mizoram, Meghalaya & Nagaland of North-East has been given to Maharashtra state. These three north eastern states & rest of India are culturally one & the same. The flagship program to emphasize this fact is “Bharat Mata Ghar”. Under this scheme interested people from Maharashtra visit the north east states to get a firsthand experience of the land and people. Similarly people from North East are visit Maharashtra and enjoy the warmth of the people of Maharashtra.

Also students from the three states of Mizoram, Meghalaya & Nagaland come to Maharashtra for studies. Jankalyan Samiti provides all facilities to them to complete their primary education. These students stay in the hostels managed by Jankalyan Samiti. At present 36 girls & 100 boys are receiving education in 11 hostels at Pune, Chinchwad, Sangli, Dombivali, Ratnagiri, Nashik, Latur, Parbhani, Sambhajinagar, Nanded & Ambejogai. This project is in operation from 1993. The annual expenditure per student is Rs. 18,000/- The annual expenditure of all hostels is 25 to 30 lakhs. Every year, a three day camp is organized of all the students from these hostels, so that they know each other closely, in these camp the students display the culture of their respective states.
